my first accordion-fold print project, an 8-panel (4.75 x 7 ” finished size) booklet that has a massive 175-year timeline on one side and accompanying memorabilia on the other, a tedious but fun and worthy project to help a church celebrate 175 years.
took these pictures with my phone, which is why they don’t look great, but wanted to show the full effect of the accordion fold. very happy with Uprinting, who worked with me to produce this outside-the-box project!

church is making a float for a local Christmas parade. the float has the manger scene on it, and these banners will hang on the sides. Journey to Bethlehem is a live nativity walk-through drama for the season that draws nearly 4,000 each year.

this is a design i pounded out and frantically sent to the client in a crunch, not knowing if it would ever make it onto a shirt in time. stuff like this happens in church communications and when you have 800 bosses. then a few weeks later i’ll see someone wearing it and creep them out by approaching them to ask if i can check out their shirt, and they say ‘who are you?’… then sometimes i spy a picture on social media, recognize the design, for instance with sweet Z here, and of course ask permission from Z’s mom to re-post (not necessarily portfolio-worthy awesomeness, but i can’t resist design in action). Z happens to be an adorable 4-year old who i get to teach sunday school to each week. the best thing about this picture, hands down, is her smile.

The Student Ministry hosts a BBQ fundraiser each spring and fall, raising funds for upcoming mission trips. I’ve used this logo/theme for the past couple years, changing up the colors from season to season. Used on flyers, posters, web, and newspaper print advertising.

oneL1FE: a capital stewardship campaign which ran in the fall of 2011, a call for the church to finish paying off their new building as well as a call to step out into the community in service, if only to change one life. this pro-bono project was extensive (meaning i worked on it instead of sleeping since i still had a corporate day job at the time)—included indoor and outdoor signage, car magnets, a booklet mailer, postcard, coffee cups, and kids’ collection banks.
